How to Apply
Currently, ASCEM has established the structure determination pipeline by single particle analysis. Due to lack of expertise in tomography, ASCEM does not provide ECT (electron cryo-tomography) service at this moment. However, we are willing to connect you with our overseas ECT advisory experts for potential collaboration while ASCEM is working on the development of ECT.
 
 
1. Workflow Chart
 
  NOTE 1:
For applying CEM3 and CEM4, or when dealing with virus or other biohazardous samples, please submit a proposal via Google form (Workflow Chart STEP 1). If the proposal is approved, the Facility operation time will be assigned by Facility Managers. For virus or other biohazardous sample, please read the Requirements and Affidavit as well as be ready for the necessary data before application.

NOTE 2:
The first time facility applicant is highly recommended to apply an account and get facility authorized (Workflow Chart STEP 3) soon after the approval of project or confirming with Facility Managers for speeding up the reservation procedures afterwards. Only after completing the online Reservation System (Workflow Chart STEP 4), the user is officially allowed to operate the applied facility.

NOTE 3:
a) For applying CEM1, CEM2, and Vitrobot as well as general samples, a request can be directly submitted via Academia Sinica Facility Reservation System (Workflow Chart STEP 4) after discussing and confirming the Facility time assignment with Facility Managers except that CEM2 / Vitrobot certified users may skip the prior discussion. In addition, CEM1, CEM2, and Vitrobot are limited to users within Academia Sinica.

b) “ATTENTION” From 2019/01/01, the Academia Sinica Facility Reservation System – “Cryo-EM Core Facility, IOC” and “Cryo-TEM Core Facility, ICOB” will be closed for access. Application of CEM1 (JEOL JEM-1400), CEM2 (FEI Tecnai G2 F20 TWIN), and Vitrobot will be shifted to “Academia Sinica Cryo-EM Center (ASCEM)”. In addition, for those who plan to use ASCEM facilities in 2019 may now submit requests via “Academia Sinica Cryo-EM Center (ASCEM)” after reading detailed procedures on ASCEM “Access” webpage.
 
 
Agreement for the Regulations of Vitrobot
  All Vitrobot Users need to sign for this Agreement, and then please bring the original document to Vitrobot Manager/Staff (see Agreement No. 7) on site at the first time of operation.

* According to the facility cost analysis formula of Division of Instrument Service of Academia Sinica, the cost per day is respectively NTD100,000 and NTD140,000 for CEM3 and CEM4. Currently, the service charge for academic institutes is 90% off during the trial and promotion period in the remaining of 2018. A new charge scheme will be announced and implemented at the beginning of 2019.
ASGC Annual Data Storage Fee: NTD 1,000/TB per year. From September to December of 2019, only 1/3 of the annual fee will be charged, and the unit is NTD333/TB. (Start from 2019.09.01)
